Bridal Sarees Designs



Bengali sarees are popular among the women of contemporary India. Various designer Bengali sarees are a rage among Indians. A typical Bengali sarees is in white or off white with a beautiful red border that which looks elegant when worn with élan. Designer Bengali sarees are made in cotton and Banarasi materials. Bengali sarees in the famous tant style has exotic borders and is one of the most popular Bollywood saree. Borders are considered to be the special feature of the Bengali sarees.




Bengali sarees are popular in bollywood films. Many actresses such as, Aishwarya Rai, Bipasha Basu and Vidya Balan have adorned Bengali sarees by in various bollywood movies. These sarees are available in Jamdani varieties which is a part of Bengali sarees. Bridal sarees in Bengal are usually in red or crimson colors, but now bridal Bengali sarees comes in orange, pink and many other shades. Bengali sarees are popular for their resham embroidery work. Bead work and cutdana work is also done to enhance the works in Bengali sarees. Complex embroidery work and skilled craftsmanship makes these Bengali sarees valuable.



Every person who visits Bengal brings a Bengali saree as a souvenir. Bengali sarees are very popular and famous worldwide.


West Bengal’s climate is hot and humid and therefore the saris are made up of a material which gives comfort when worn. The most famous is the Bengali Cotton Sari, which is known as Tant. Every Bengali saree is colorful and vibrant and which is worn in every occasion and each occasion has a different saree.
 





The Bengali cotton saris usually have an outstanding border with soft tissue paper type texture. There are various types of prints in the saris like floral prints, solar prints and even modern art on the Bengali saris.
The different weaving traditions of Bengal are given below:
Shantipur-
The “Shantipuri” saris are named after the village “Shantipur” in Nadia District of West Bengal. This district is famous for the “Vaishnava” culture spread by Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu. These saris have a powder fine texture and looks so sophisticated and elegant when worn.





Dhonekhali-
Dhonekhali design is famous for men’s dhotis and plain latest sarees. The saris are woven as opaque with contrasting borders in red, black, purple, and orange. The borders are quite wide and are elongated with zari. These broad borders are woven in mostly two colors, red and black. These sarees are low in price and bright than regular known Bengali sarees.

Tangail-
“Tangail” is a village which is now known as ‘Bangaladesh’. The traditional tangailsaree borders have a lotus pattern or a lamp pattern. The weavers combined two to three colors to make a border.
These sarees are exclusive in nature and also very famous and known sarees among the natives of Bengal.
Silk – Baluchari : Korial : Garad
Mulberry silk weaving sarees was the staple cultivation in West Bengal. Baluchari
Baluchari is a village on the banks of the Bhagirathi River in Murshidabad district. Baluchar brocade is known as the famous silk Bollywood saree in West Bengal. This saree from Bengal is usually five yards in length and 42″ wide in flame red, purple and occasionally in deep blue. The overall base of the saree is crafted with small buttis and a beautiful floral design across the edges.
The Korial
It has a wide red border all over the saree. The weaving and wearing of these saris is associated with Durga Puja, and that’s why it is a seasonal sale saree.
The Garad
The Garad silk sari has a plain red border around a plain base, with a wide spaced red “kalka” or a paisley motif crafted diagonally from feet to waist.
